About us
Bible Baptist Church was founded by Pastor Knutson in 1972, with a desire to faithfully proclaim God’s Word and serve the Brookings community. In October of 2014, Pastor Ivan Yoder became the pastor of Bible Baptist Church, and the Lord has graciously used his leadership to strengthen and grow the ministry. Over the years, God has blessed the church with numerical growth, a church addition, and several renovations with more improvements constantly taking place.
Today, Bible Baptist Church is a healthy and welcoming congregation which is large enough to offer meaningful opportunities for fellowship, service, and spiritual growth, yet small enough that every individual is known and valued. We believe the church is more than a building or a weekly gathering; it is a family united by faith in Christ and a shared desire to grow in Him. Meet Our Staff
Ivan Yoder
Senior Pastor
Pastor Ivan Yoder attended Ambassador Baptist Bible College, where he met his wife, Katherine. Following graduation, he briefly served at another church before the Lord led him to Laingsburg, Michigan. There he ministered for over ten years, serving as youth pastor and teaching in a Christian school.
In 2014, Pastor Yoder moved to Brookings, South Dakota, where he became the senior pastor of Bible Baptist Church, a role he faithfully continues in today. Under his leadership, the church has experienced growth and strengthening in many areas of ministry.
Outside of ministry, Pastor Yoder enjoys camping, motorcycling, and trying new hot sauces!
Timothy Yoder
Associate Pastor
Pastor Tim graduated from Heartland Baptist Bible College and joined the staff at Bible Baptist Church in June of 2025. He serves in several ministry roles, including overseeing media and sound, leading the youth ministry, and guiding the young adults ministry. Tim has a passion for helping the next generation grow in their faith and for using creativity and technology to support the church’s mission.
Tim married his wife, Jenay, in May of 2025. Jenay serves faithfully as the head of the church’s nursery ministry, where she plays a vital role in caring for young families. Outside of ministry, Tim enjoys outdoor activities, writing, and spending quality time with Jenay and their dog.
